Make a Difference!

If you’ve been around Long Beach for a while, you already know that the LBC has a pretty special vibe. We’ve got the beach, the neighborhoods, the local businesses—and, perhaps most importantly, a whole lot of people trying to make the city a better place.

That’s where Long Beach Gives comes in.

Long Beach Gives is a citywide online fundraising campaign designed to connect Long Beach residents and businesses with local nonprofit organizations. In plain English: it’s a way for the community to put its money where its heart is.

So, Who Exactly Is Long Beach Gives?

Think of Long Beach Gives as the ultimate community fundraising connector.

Rather than being a nonprofit that focuses on just one issue, Long Beach Gives brings together hundreds of local nonprofits working on everything from youth and education to social services, animals, the arts, the environment, and more.

Since 2019, the campaign says it has helped raise more than $10.8 million for Long Beach nonprofits. More than 300 organizations have participated over its first several years.

And that’s pretty impressive.

For those of us from the Gen X generation, this is basically the modern version of everybody in the neighborhood passing around a fundraiser envelope—except now you can do it online without digging through the junk drawer for your checkbook.

Why Does Long Beach Gives Matter?

Here’s the deal: local nonprofits do a ton of work that people don't always see.

They help feed families, support young people, care for seniors, protect the environment, promote the arts, provide community services, and step up when people are having a rough time.

But nonprofits also need reliable funding to keep the lights on and the programs running.

Long Beach Gives helps these organizations connect with individual donors and build a broader base of community support. Even smaller donations can add up when thousands of people participate.

Basically, it's the "many hands make light work" philosophy—with a website.

It's Not Just About Writing a Check

One thing I like about Long Beach Gives is that you don't have to be rolling in cash to participate.

You can browse participating organizations, find a cause that means something to you, and make a donation. Businesses can also get involved through group giving pages and matching programs, which can help employee donations go even further.

So whether your thing is:

Helping kids and families
Supporting veterans
Animal welfare
Environmental causes
Arts and culture
Education
Housing and social services
Community development

...there's a good chance you'll find a local organization doing something you care about.

Long Beach Gives Has Some Serious Momentum

This isn't some fly-by-night fundraiser that showed up yesterday.

According to Long Beach Gives, the campaign has raised more than $10.8 million since 2019. And in 2024 alone, the campaign raised more than $2.1 million from over 10,000 donations.

That's what happens when a community decides to work together.

One person gives $25. Another gives $50. A business matches donations. Somebody shares a nonprofit's story with their friends.

Before you know it, you've got millions of dollars going back into the community.

When Is Long Beach Gives in 2026?

For anyone who likes to put things on the calendar—because apparently that's what adulthood is—Long Beach Gives returns September 24, 2026.

Long Beach Gives

So if you've been thinking, "I should probably get more involved in my community," this is a pretty easy place to start.

The Bottom Line

Long Beach Gives is really about one simple idea: local people helping local organizations do local good.

And honestly, that's pretty old-school in the best possible way.

Gen X grew up with the idea that you knew your neighbors, supported the local fundraiser, volunteered when somebody needed help, and didn't need an app to convince you that community mattered.

Long Beach Gives takes that same spirit and brings it into the digital age.

So whether you've got $10, $100, a company that wants to match donations, or simply a social-media account you can use to spread the word, there's a way to participate.

Because at the end of the day, Long Beach Gives isn't really about the website or the fundraising campaign. It's about the people of Long Beach deciding that the place they call home is worth investing in.

And that's a message that never goes out of style.
