Long Beach Gives just wrapped up an unforgettable 2026 season—and wow, what a season it was!
With 14 vibrant events and more than 8,000 neighbors showing up, our community proved once again that when Long Beach comes together, amazing things can happen.
And we saved one of our biggest milestones for last: 97 individual supporters to celebrate the Recreation Park Bandshell turning 97 years old! π
Built in 1929, the Recreation Park Bandshell is more than just a beautiful structure. For generations, it has been a place where music, theater, community events, and memories have taken center stage.
Today, the Friends of the Recreation Park Bandshell (FORPBS) is working to bring that magic back. Founded in 2022, this nonprofit is dedicated to restoring and reactivating the bandshell so it can once again welcome musicians, theater groups, community organizations, and audiences from across Long Beach.
Located in Recreation Park near Park Avenue, Seventh Street, and Blair Field, the bandshell has the perfect setting for gathering with friends, enjoying great entertainment, and making new memories.
And here's why those 97 supporters matter.
Reaching this milestone isn't just a number—it's a public show of community support.
Our all-volunteer Long Beach Gives team can now point to those 97 supporters as proof that people care about preserving this beloved 1929 landmark. That grassroots support helps us make our case to city leadership as we advocate for the repairs and restoration the bandshell deserves.
And perhaps most importantly, your support helps keep our upcoming 2027 season FREE and accessible to everyone in our community.
So, here's to 97 years of the Recreation Park Bandshell—and to the next generation of Long Beach memories waiting to happen there.
The bandshell has been part of our community for nearly a century. Let's help make sure its next 97 years are just as meaningful. πΆπ³β¨
