Generation X: Sorry or Not?

If you're Generation X, you probably grew up saying "sorry" almost automatically—for being late, needing time for yourself, or simply asking for help.
But "sorry" and "I apologize" aren't the same.
An apology is for taking responsibility when you've genuinely done something wrong. Sorry has become a habit we often use for having boundaries, priorities, or simply being human.
Maybe it's time to stop apologizing for:
•Being busy or needing personal time
•Not reading other people's minds
•Taking your time to make decisions
•Other people's mistakes
•Putting your needs first
•Walking away from negativity
Choosing to change your life
Instead of saying, "Sorry I'm late," try "Thanks for waiting." Instead of "Sorry to bother you," say "Do you have a minute?"
These small changes replace unnecessary guilt with confidence and respect.
Generation X has spent decades balancing careers, families, and life's responsibilities. Save your apologies for when you've truly caused harm. For everything else, own your choices, respect your boundaries, and remember—you don't need to apologize for living your life.
